E3 2007

Last week the 2007 Electronic Entertainment Expo took place. “Three cheers for games!”

While I did not physically attend I did virtually attend through the various TV and internet coverage. To be honest this is the better way to go. 🙂 Anyway, here are some of my random thoughts on things that stood out.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
Very impressive. Though as much as they keep telling me it’s not a Tomb Raider clone, that’s all I see. A very nice looking, exciting clone, but a still a clone. Also since this is PS3 only, I will most likely never actually play it.

Kill Zone 2
Looks almost as good as the video they showed two years ago, and if someone bought me a PS3 I might consider picking this game up.

Assassin’s Creed
Wow. The crowd and free running are interesting, and the game looks great. I am a bit concerned that it might be a bit gimicky, though right now its on my “buy list”.

Mass Effect
Release now please.

Bio Shock.
Same as above.

Left4Dead
I love zombies. Killing them, playing as them, reading to them. So this is pretty much a done deal for me.

Lost Odyssey
Yea I am a sucker for these sort of long winded crazy RPGs, and it looks good.

Fallout 3
So take one of my favorite game series and make it 1st person, real time, and move away from the insane number of ways the payer could face a problem. Thanks. At least it looks like they got the atmosphere right. Of course none of that will stop me from buying this, in like 18months when its out.

Halo 3
I have never been a Halo fanatic; always thought is was a decent first person shooter. Maybe one of the best on the consoles, but average compared to some of the great ones on the PC. Though I was pulled into its “world”/story, and from what I saw/heard I am looking forward to playing it.

Resident Evil 5
Interested. I have been told I really should play RE4, but I never seem to get around to it.

Unreal tourny 3 and Gears of war
They are coming to windows (xp) with live support, impressive.

MGS4
Ah… ok. If it comes out for 360 I will play it

WiiFit
That is not going to get me to buy a Wii, and until my daughter gets older a “game” like that will most likely not be purchased in our house.

G4 Coverage of press Confrences
Terrible. The MS one was the worst. Instead of getting an estimated event timeline so they could cut to comercial when the boring numbers were being discussed, they timed it just right as to cut out some of the best demos. Oh well at least they had it streaming on their web site.

I am sure there is more, but I have the whole family staring at me to go to lunch.

One response to “E3 2007”

  1. Replying to my own post 3 1/2 years later. With an update on those games.
    Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
I just got this last week and am playing through it with the family; its great.

    Kill Zone 2
*blah* Never cared enough about it to even play a demo

    Assassin’s Creed
Bought and played it. I was so awesome it has led to two sequels each better than the last.

    Mass Effect
Another hit with a fantastic sequel, and a third game on the way.

    Bio Shock
I am seeing a trend. Great game, though it’s sequel by another studio was not as big of hit. Good news 3rd game on the way.

    Left4Dead
Go figure another huge hit, that led to a quick great sequel.

    Lost Odyssey
Umm. I vaguely remember buying this and then not playing it. *fizzle*

    Fallout 3
*mind blown* This was so great, it had several expansions and a full blown sister game made by another studio.(New Vegas, which recently bought)

    Halo 3
Ok Halo 3 was pretty awesome, and it made me go back and finish 2. It had two more sequels Halo 3:ODST and Halo Reach.

    Resident Evil 5
I guess after RE2 I just lost interest. I still have not played RE4 which is a travesty.

Unreal tourny 3 and Gears of war
UT3 *fizzle* , though Gears was huge as was its first sequel and I am sure it’s second sequel will do well. I am just not a fan.

    MGS4
I fail. I still have not bought or played this, and I really should.

    WiiFit
We are still a Wii-less house and I don’t see us getting one anytime soon.

    – That was fun. Maybe I will make other post updates.
