Some thoughts on my 360

It has been almost a year since I received my xbox360, and I do not think I have mentioned it much. Which is probably due to me not playing it as much as messing around on my computer. That is not to say I have not played anything, I have and figured now would be a good time to sum up the games I did play.

Time for a list of the games I spent any real time with

  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance($): Fast fun fairly brainless action
  • Dead Rising(b): I really like this game, but its “save”/ play the game over and over mechanics drove me nuts
  • Crackdown(ms): Wow. Wow. Wow. This game provided a lot of things I like and did with flare and polish.
  • Zuma (a): Crazy addictive action puzzle game. Lots of fun for the whole family
  • Halo 3(ms): The SP campaign seems ok thus far. Multiplayer fps on console are not my thing, but the recorded movie mode makes this a winner
  • Carcassone(a): Table top tile placing game brought to digital world almost perfectly
  • Puzzle Quest(a): Match 3 puzzle game + light rpg = greatness
  • Mass Effect(ms): Bioware’s latest RPG effort. While in my mind this is not as good as Baldur’s Gate 2/1 it has been fun. Yes it has issues (inventory UI i’m looking at you) but overall worth a playthrough.
  • Assassins Creed(b): Beautiful free running simulation, with a story line that I wanted to see resolved (but did not.. I hates you UbiSoft), but the game play was so repetitive. I should have stopped playing long before the end, but I am a sucker for their story.

a=arcade game b=borrowed ms=give by MS $=paid full retail

Out of those I have only completed Crackdown, ME, and AC. While I know I will finish PQ, I am not so sure about Marvel , its so hard for me to get back into games that are lite on story. Overall I am happy about the console and my play time on it.
