Bookworm part 3

Three more books added to my 2008 completion list; Second foundation, Foundations Edge, and The Two Swords.

Second Foundation wraps up the original Foundation trilogy of short story collections and, as with the other two, it impressed me. Engaging plot lines with a bit of mystery and twist that activated my imagination.

Foundation’s Edge is the first actual novel length Foundation story, and was written thirty years after the last Foundation short story was written. With that separation of time and advances in real life technology as Asimov pushed the the technology level of the key players in his galaxy forward invoking computers and robots. Alas I wish he had stay with the short story format, because to me the book felt as though it had a plot of short story stretched out to novel length. Thus the pacing felt a lot slower than it should have.

As for The Two Swords , the third book in RA Salavtor’s Hunters Blades trilogy, I read these like I read comic books; action heavy, light fantasy. It lived up to my expectations and am looking forward to reading the next trilogy.

I do need to give credit to Thrrrpptt! at the quarter to three forums and his 52 books in 52 weeks challenge thread. It was this thread that really encouraged me to try and read more books this year, over the number I read last year. Though I am not sure I will be able to keep up this fast reading pace as the year goes on.
