WoW, sorry for my cold shoulder lately

For the last ten weeks or so I have been Raiding in WotLK with my priest. Working most of that time to get better gear and clear achievements, but I did spend a bit of time getting my hunter up to 75. Sadly at this point I am growing bored of the current content.

I have run ever Wrath instance multiple times, and I have most of the 10-man gear I want. For my priest, all that’s left now is running 25mans, which are tedious, and pvp which I really don’t find that compelling. My other option is leveling up alts, which I have sort of enjoyed in the past, I don’t currently feel driven to run “another” character through all those quests and zones.

There was also a bit of guild drama, which any level of makes me want to vomit a bit. And finally, and more influentially; other games.

In the last year, no other game had enough draw to pull me away from WoW, and yet now it seems to be happening. First, Lord of the Rings Online has strangely captured my attention, at least as much, and maybe a bit more, than it did when it launched. And second a swell of other games I have had waiting for me (Kings Bounty, Fallout 3, Dawn of War 1/2 and several random console RPGs) are now looking very tempting.

The funny part is, that if WoW still offered some mystery, or place for me to explore I could easily resist the urge to play anything else. It seems my ability to consume WoW content finally beat out Blizzard’s ability to produce it. Which means it is time for me to back off my play time and give Blizzard some room to work.

So I apologize WoW, for my cold shoulder but I think you and I should give each other some room. I am not going completely away, but maybe even see some other people for now. Heck I doubt with your other millions of subscribers, that you will even miss me.
