Musing about computer upgrades.

I was sitting around the other day thinking about upgrading to windows 7.  At home I have two computers I use daily, both have XP on them and my gaming machine also has Vista (via dual boot), all of them 32 bit versions.  If I take the plunge to Win7 I want to do it on all my machines and ideally all to 64bit.

Then I started thinking about the huge pain it is going to be to reinstall all the applications I have installed on my one machine.  That is not going to be a pleasant experience.  Though I guess if I want the new shiny pretty OS I will just have to suck it up.   And heck, if I do decided to go through with this I will probably buy a new Hard Drive since current one on that machine is old and small, and it would be nice to have more space.

What I really would love to have the money to do is build a new gaming rig, and then use the parts from my two current machine to rebuild a very nice media server.  When I see current graphic card charts showing current cards doing 3x the perf. of my nvidia 8800, I weep.
